“The Communication of Magic and the Magic of Communication: Top Magicians Discuss How Communication Shapes Magic”

The art of magic is one of the oldest forms of communication in human experience.  It is steeped in communication strategies.  The creation of “magic” is grounded in the magic word, the incantation.  The performance of magic begins with shaping the audience experience through deceptive communication.  Yet, that deception is accepted as a communication practice so the audience can experience the “magic” moment.

This panel explores the use of communication strategies by magicians who seek to entertain and create “magic” for audiences.

Several of the top magicians in the world gather for a panel discussion of the communication of magic at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Date: Thursday, March 1, 2012
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Location: Annenberg Auditorium
